I was torn between ...Bless your ever loving heart. I was torn between crying and laughing... the way you are able to keep your sense of humor is COMMENDABLE. When you said you could give your daughter your $0.11 savings account. It's so sad, but guess what... you still have eachother... you and your daughter, and you have your health (albeit with a few more aches and pains), and... you have a new friend. That's the good news. Someone that cares, someone that has strong soft shoulders to lean on. Bad news... he (me) is in about the same shape as you are, financially.

Since you were so specifically honest about your finances, I'll share with you, information that not many people know. I currently have about $15,000 in the bank. I owe OVER $80,000 on many different credit cards. I was making the minimum payments by transferring balances from one card to the other, until I got to the point of being virtually at the max on all the cards, so I spoke with an 'advisor'... stopped making the payments altogether, and am now in the process of attempting to 'settle' with the 'banks', for less than what I owe. In about 5 or 6 months, I will know if I am going to have to declare bankruptcy or not.

I NEVER DREAMED I'd be in this position. Oh... I lost my house last year. This is the first time in the last 30 years that I haven't owned a home.

Up until about 3 or 4 years ago, I was 'stylin'. I was turning down work, and making MORE than enough money to pay my bills, and live... not in luxury by any means, but at least very comfortably.

If I don't get a decent job soon, I'm not sure what's gonna happen. The $15K, if I'm VERY careful... MIGHT last about 5 or 6 months.

I may have to look for work somewhere else, like Austin Texas still has residential homes being built and sold... one of the only places in the country that does. I don't want to live anywhere else. I was born here, and I want to stay. This area is PARADISE. It is my home.

HOWEVER... I am well aware that if I DO end up moving away, I will make something good out of it, and who knows... maybe it will end up being a good thing. I'm soooo lucky I'm an eternal optimist.

Plus... I KNOW the phone is gonna ring, and it will be a client who wants to have me build them their new dream home, or a substantial remodel/ addition.

Sorry for ranting on YOUR blog. You can spank me, or punish me in whatever method you desire, when we see each other next.

Very Fondly, NedNed Opdykehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06898817861143102753noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3825139886921963128.post-6710867623727927932009-02-26T17:27:00.000-08:002009-02-26T17:27:00.000-08:00A woman with Super Secret Skillz... I like it. I'...A woman with Super Secret Skillz... I like it. I've got a little talent myself. We can test each other's abilities and keep score, winner gets 10 extra minutes of massage time.

So sorry to hear about your joint pain. Hopefully you'll get relief from the 'supplements' you've started taking. I tried (for 2 months) and they didn't help me at all. I was even younger than you, when I first started noticing the 'constant' pain and stiffness. I beat myself up pretty good, as I was growing up, which didn't help. Sports mostly. Basketball and football wrecked me.

The good news... after a few years of the pain, you should notice a change. It get worse. Sorry.

Seriously tho, if your symptoms are anything like mine (and they sound VERY similar), you'll get used to the pain. It will become nothing more than a minor nuisance. I like to say, "pain builds character, and boy oh boy, am I a character".

Remind me to show you the way my knee 'pops' like a rubber band. The 'big' tendon on the inside of my right knee... when I bend it from straight... you can see it easily.

Let's see... I have no anterior cruciate (sp?) ligaments in either knee. The first one snapped when I was 18, and never diagnosed until years later, when it had pretty much stabilized itself. The other one broke when I was about 30. Both times playing basketball. The second time it was repaired, but the 'fix' didn't hold. I can still get around pretty good tho, as long as I only move in the direction that my toes are pointed. No sudden twisting movements. No more basketball =(.

I remember when I turned 40. It was great. 30 was the hard one for me. When I got to 40, it was like I had a totally different attitude. I say it like this... "when I was 20, I never thought I'd live to be 30. When I turned 30, I never thought I'd live to be 40. When I turned 40 I decided I was gonna be the first person to walk this planet that lived forever". And then I explain that the way I'm going to live forever is by having enough people remember me, and telling their kids about me, so that my "memory" will live forever. I know for a fact, that my (deceased) parents memory will be alive for many many generations to come. I'm so lucky... I had the best parents in the whole world.

Jeesh, can this guy talk, or WHAT?!

You sound like you've got the 'number' thing pretty well dealed with. I'm also pleased that you feel more like a 'complete' human being than ever before. I am so much looking forward to getting to know you better "Chel".

Your new follower and admirer,
Ned/ ThorNed Opdykehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06898817861143102753noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3825139886921963128.post-58545884898699003702009-02-23T13:20:00.000-08:002009-02-23T13:20:00.000-08:00I have to force myself...I see now why my grandma ...I have to force myself...I see now why my grandma tricked us by calling it Vanilla KoolAid and not letting us get it for ourselves...I wish I had a way to trick myself!Chelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14316112251906157995noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3825139886921963128.post-6875897142191587102009-02-22T20:46:00.000-08:002009-02-22T20:46:00.000-08:00I am so sorry that I didn't see this earlier. :hu...I am so sorry that I didn't see this earlier. :hug :hug :hug

I know what you mean about making it paycheck to paycheck.
